This is perfect for people who need ultra-soft fiber for next-to-skin pieces, and for baby items.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eA bit splitty: \u003c\/strong\u003eWe noticed some issues with splitting while doing both long-tail cast-on for knitted swatches, and half double crochet. Once you're off to the races with knitting, though, it's not nearly as splitty. The looser ply can cause some issues with certain crochet stitches though.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSlippery on needles: \u003c\/strong\u003eIf you're a tight knitter, this is the sock yarn for you. It slides smoothly on even wooden needles. If you use stainless steel needles and knit on the looser side, though, you might find it more slippery than expected.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSpringy and elastic:\u003c\/strong\u003e The elasticity and bounce of this yarn gives it excellent drape and stretch, which makes it perfect for both socks and shawls.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOn the thinner side of fingering: \u003c\/strong\u003eErr on the side of sizing your needles and hooks down, if you prefer a denser fabric. As always, do a gauge swatch to test, and make sure to wash and block it the way you're planning to wash and block your finished piece.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFantastic stitch definition: \u003c\/strong\u003eNo mater what gauge, stitch, or craft, Alegria consistently impresses with its crisp stitch definition. The finished fabric has a lovely texture and luster to it in any of the colorways.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eColor variation: \u003c\/strong\u003eThe solids of this yarn base still have some tonality to them, adding interest and variance within the color in a finished piece.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDye may bleed: \u003c\/strong\u003eWe noticed on several pieces in progress that dye came off on our hands while working with the yarn. If you're concerned about dye bleed in finished pieces, we recommend washing yarn before using it, and making a test swatch to wash and block.\u003cstrong\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCan be machine dried but be careful: \u003c\/strong\u003eOne of our swatchers has been doing long-term testing with a swatch by sending it through the laundry each week starting March of 2026. The swatch is in a delicates bag and goes through on cold with other colors, and through the dryer. So far, we haven't seen any felting or other sings of problems, but this might not hold up as well with things that see more wear like socks. It also blocks well and doesn't bleed as much as we expected even in cold water.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSoft and pleasant: \u003c\/strong\u003eVery skin-friendly and soft. This is perfect for shawls, cowls, hats, and anything else that'll sit against your skin. It has a lovely plush, squishy texture when worked up, and a buttery feel. For an even cushier feel, size your needles or hook up a little.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eVery springy:\u003c\/strong\u003e This is surprisingly springy and elastic, especially for a superwash.
