Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to customers’ most frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your question, please send us a message!
What colors do you offer for 3D printed products?
We have a wide array of colors available for these. You can see our color gallery here.
What does Z twist or S twist mean?
When fiber is spun into yarn it's either twisted clockwise or counter-clockwise. Singles - single strands of spun fiber - are then plied together in the opposite direction to create a plied yarn.
To tell which direction the twist is, hold a piece of yarn vertically so you're looking at it from the side. If the diagonal lines look like / it's a Z twist; if they look like \ it's an S twist. Z and S are simply shorthands used by fiber artists because of the direction of the center "diagonal" in the letter.
Knitting and nalbinding tend to work best with yarn that was spun Z and plied S. Crochet and tatting tend to work best with yarn that was spun S and plied Z. Depending on the specific stitch, using yarn twisted the other way may lead to splitting, untwisting, and other unexpected and somewhat annoying problems with the yarn.
How quickly will my order ship?
Fulfillment time depends on demand. We fulfill orders in the order we receive them. Our fulfillment window for 3D printed goods is around 1-2 weeks, usually less. You can see the current order queue here.
What does "Shipped from..." mean on the product page?
Most of our products are made in-house, by hand, by us. We partner with other small, privately-owned businesses for things we can't produce in-house, like t-shirts and project bags.
For products like yarn and other specialty craft supplies that we can't produce ourselves, we're part of a collective program where we work with suppliers to curate a list of their products for our shop. We don't list anything we wouldn't personally use; we've tested every single product we have through our collective program. These drop-ship from the supplier directly to you, so that we don't have to maintain an inventory of our own. This is more eco-friendly and also helps us select high quality products to provide to you that we can't make ourselves.
How can I know for sure what import duties and/or tariffs I'll need to pay for international orders?
We've done our best to keep things up to date and properly integrated here on our website, but there are unfortunately never any guarantees especially with the current level of unpredictability. If you need a higher level of confidence (we totally understand), then you can also shop in our Etsy store or eBay store. Since they're significantly larger companies, they have a more streamlined infrastructure for handling taxes, duties, and tariffs than we do.
Please note that not all products available here on our website are available on Etsy or eBay.
What happens if I'm overcharged for international shipping?
For international orders, the automated shipping calculations can sometimes result in an overcharge. If this happens, we proactively refund the difference between what you paid for shipping and what we were charged to ship the product to you.
Do you ship to the EU?
With the 2024 introduction of General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), we are unfortunately no longer able to ship to the European Union and Northern Ireland. As a microbusiness, and in an effort to keep prices low, we do not have the budget to incorporate the testing required to meet these regulatory hurdles in certifying our products. Until such time as the GPSR is replaced, or exemptions or other provisions are introduced for microbusinesses, we will be unable to ship to the EU or Northern Ireland.
Do you do custom work and commissions?
We offer custom colors for our 3D printed products, and modifications such as adding text, logos, or other simple graphics. Please contact us for more information.
Can I get a bulk discount?
Some of our more popular products have bulk discount tiers built in. For others, please contact us for details. Bulk discount amounts will depend on your order quantity, and large bulk orders will have a proportionally longer fulfillment time. We're not able to do rush bulk orders since our 3D printers only print so quickly, so please plan ahead.
