This high-luster mercerized 100% cotton 3-ply thread has been America's favorite crochet cotton for over 100 years. With a generous 1,000yd / 914m, it's not just high quality, it's a great value as well. Outstanding stitch definition gives your crochet pieces excellent, unrivaled structure.
Please order all the thread you need for your project at the same time, since we can't guarantee color consistency across different dye lots.
Our notes
After making a few of our own projects with this thread, here's what we've found:
Excellent texture: Aunt Lydia's thread is smooth and silky with clear stitch definition.
Durable and strong: The thread is resistant to pilling and breaking, which makes it a great choice for pieces that are going to see some wear. Coasters, Christmas tree ornaments, decorative lace edgings, and even clothing are all great uses for this thread.
Blocks well: Blocking helps any crocheted piece, and you'll get the best results by using a blocking mat with pins to help your work hold its shape as it dries.
May have knots: Because cotton is a natural fiber, thread balls may have knots in them. Carefully pick out the knots or just cut them out, then join your thread like you would usually do when adding new thread.
Machine washable: This thread softens up a bit in the wash, and washes very well. Make sure not to run it through the dryer though; pull it right out of the washer when it's done, roll it in a towel to squeeze out any excess water, and reshape it flat to re-block it.

Please note: Certain colors may bleed, especially dark colors and vibrant ones. Always make a test swatch and block it, if you’re concerned about color bleeding. To help reduce bleeding, block with cold water, use color catching sheets in the water, only use one color, or stay away from high-contrast colorwork.
