Celestial Wool and Fibers is excited to share with you this collection that is near and dear to their heart. Monterey has been their home now for over ten years! They wanted to celebrate and share the things they find so beautiful about this special place.
Add a touch of pure enchantment with Mystic Mohair, a hand-dyed deliciously soft blend of kid mohair and silk. This luxurious yarn catches the light with its ethereal halo, transforming ordinary knitting into something magical.
Perfect for shawls, wraps, and scarves that deserve to feel as dreamy as they look.
Here are some tips for gauge when working with Mystic Mohair:
- On its own, mohair yarn typically knits at 5-7 stitches per inch on US 3 to 8 (3.25–5.0mm) needles. This gives you a drapey fabric with a soft bloom.
- For a lighter weight fabric, knit at 3-4 stitches per inch on US 8 to 10 (5.0-6.0mm) needles.
- Held together with a fingering weight yarn, they'll work up to the equivalent of a DK weight, around 5–6 stitches per inch.
- Held together with a worsted weight yarn, they'll work up to the equivalent of a bulky weight, around 3.5–4.5 stitches per inch.
Always swatch, and always wash and block your swatch the way you plan to wash and block your finished piece before checking gauge. Mohair blooms significantly when washed.
All of Celestial Wool and Fibers' yarn is hand-dyed in Monterey, California.
Colorways
Kelp is a warm lovely green with highlights of chartreuse and lowlights of olive. Perfect for showing off a beautiful cable pattern with its mossy cottage vibe.
Driftwood matches our Monterey driftwood so perfectly that it's just *chef's kiss*. It's the perfect cozy neutral with enough character to give your project some color texture and visual interest.
Seawater is a luscious, vibrant teal with hints of deep bright blue and electric green blending together in a magical way.
Marine Layer is a beautiful calming blue-toned silver that shows off CWaF's favorite thing about Monterey: the weather! It's foggy and cloudy almost all year round thanks to our famous Marine Layer. The moisture in the cold air from the ocean moves toward the warmer inland air, but gets trapped over Monterey by the Coastal Range mountains to create our beloved fog.
Endless Summer is a variegated colorway with swaths of sunshine yellow, deep teal, and grassy green. CWaF threw all their happy colors into one dye pan to see what would happen, and this was the result!
Cypress Grove is inspired by those iconic spiky windblown trees that grow right out of the rocky coastline. The tonal cozy brown is perfect for the transition to fall.
Sunset is a gorgeous speckled colorway with golden oranges, subtle peaches, and warm yellows topped with a light dusting of red and pink speckles.

Please note: Certain colors may bleed, especially dark colors and vibrant ones. Always make a test swatch and block it, if you’re concerned about color bleeding. To help reduce bleeding, block with cold water, use color catching sheets in the water, only use one color, or stay away from high-contrast colorwork.
