All of Manos del Uruguay yarns are hand dyed. The artisans use big kettles heated by wood-fueled boilers, dyeing in small batches creating wonderful colors. The colors of Manos yarns are bright and wild, full of nuances and variations. No two skeins are the same, each one is unique, a testimony of a particular moment.

Due to the small batch hand-dyed process, there may be differences in colors between skeins. Order enough yarn for your project for a better likelihood that skeins will match. Alternate skeins where needed.

All Manos del Uruguay yarns are mulesing-free.

Our notes

After making a few of our own projects with this yarn, here's what we've found:

Soft and cozy: This softened up considerably when blocking, and felt fuzzy, soft, and cozy both before and after.

Hold together with mohair: Fino pairs excellently with mohair yarns for a deliciously soft fabric.

Very pleasant to work with: We loved both knitting and crocheting with this, and didn't find it to be splitty with either craft. It feels great in the hands and works up nicely. However, if you have very tight tension, this may be splitty especially with sharp metal knitting needles.

Be careful when frogging: This yarn likes to stick to itself once it's worked up, so be gentle and careful when frogging any stitches.

May be pilly: Like all single-ply yarns, Fino will pill more easily than plied yarn. It's best for garments that won't see a lot of hard wear.

Great stitch definition: Even while being fuzzy and soft, Fino still has surprisingly good stitch definition.
